EMFs and asthma are gaining attention from scientists studying stress, an asthma trigger. Asthma is on the rise, especially among children. EMFs, which often cause the body a great deal of stress, are also on the rise in our environment—and thus, scientists are researching the link between asthma and EMFs.

What are EMFs?

EMFs are electro-magnetic fields that emanate from our electrical grid and appliances—and from cell phones, Wi Fi, cell towers and high power lines. They are highly hazardous to health, affecting both the nervous system and immune system, and are known to cause numerous disorders and diseases.

Are children under stress from EMFs?

Scientists know that an important trigger for an asthma attack is stress. Asthma sufferers will attest to this. Cell phones, laptops, wireless games or Wi Fi in the home, produce a sea of electro-magnetic pollution in the living environment. All of these wireless devices send out a particularly hazardous type of EMF.

These wireless EMFs (also known as microwave radiation) cause undue stress on the nervous system and are dangerous for anyone’s health. But children are especially vulnerable, because their nervous systems and brains are still developing.

Research on Asthma and EMFs

Lloyd Morgan, Director of the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the US has important concerns about EMFs as asthma triggers:

“In the past decade many illnesses have exhibited a troubling and equally baffling rise. One of the most visible and alarming is asthma…an increase [in 16 years] of 209%. In about the same time frame as the increase in the rate of asthma incidence, high frequency transients on the electrical wiring in buildings began increasing due to technology changes in the mid-1980s.”

Power Lines and Asthma

A relationship between magnetic fields from power lines and asthma and other chronic illnesses was identified in an August 2001 Australian study, which concludes:

“The results are consistent with a possible adverse effect of environmental magnetic field exposure on immune-related and other illnesses.” Powerline Health Facts
